The Inclusivity Project (TIP) and the Global Forum of Communities Discriminated on Work and Descent (GFOD) seek a Social Development Intern to support our work at the United Nations.


Interns can attend official meetings at the United Nations, including the 2025 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) and planning sessions for the 2025 World Social Summit. Internship Duration 7 months, from mid-July to February 28, 2026.


Key Responsibilities:
Support preparations for the 2025 World Social Summit and the 64th Commission for Social Development (CSocD64) in 2026
Assist with strategic communications: social media, flyers, graphic design
Contribute to internal and external reports and advocacy materials and general communications
Monitor UN developments related to social development and SDG implementation
Support both in-person and virtual meetings at the UN Church Center and UN Headquarters
Assist with general administrative tasks, including hosting international human rights defenders
Maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality


Location & Hours:
Based in New York City | Hybrid format
Approx. 18 hours/week, usually across 3 days (1 in-person day/week)
Hours are flexible but generally follow Eastern Time morning schedules
Volunteer-based internship to fit around your studies or other activities
Ideal Candidate:


Maintain a high level of political and cultural awareness across global contexts, with the ability to adapt language, tone, and behavior diplomatically in diverse and potentially sensitive situations.
High level of independence and ability to work independently, in-person and remotely
Strong interest in social justice, international development, and the UN system
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Zoom
Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
Proactive, organized, and reliable in a collaborative and cross-cultural work setting
Fluent in English, other UN languages are a plus
